Chilarai College is one of the few colleges in Assam with a special registered research centre established under the patronage of former Chief Minister of Assam, Late Sarat Chandra Singha.
The Centre for Ethnic Studies and Research (CESR) has been carrying out research in the areas of Ethnic Art, Literature, Culture and History. The centre has already published several books and continues to undertake significant research publications.
Dr. Jyotirmoy Prodhani was the founder Secretary of the Centre.
The college provides material support to scholars carrying out research on ethnology through the resources available at the Centre for Ethnic Studies and Research (CESR) .
Researchers are encouraged to utilise the centre's academic resources, publications and research infrastructure for advanced studies and scholarly work.
